EXOTIC WOODEN HEADS
These vegetal works of art are meticulously handcarved by renowned
artist
Grimaldo Miranda Costa of Governador Valadares MG Brasil.
The artist uses exotic woods from fallen trees found in the rainforest, hard woods
such as jacarandá, cedar, flamboyán, and chestnut (castanho).
These wooden heads range from 45 to 62cm tall (17 to 24 inches)
and weigh between five and twenty kilos each.
No live trees are cut down.
Grimaldo saves the wood of trees partially destroyed in forest fires
or otherwise fallen from age.
